Fabric Art

I'm sure this has been done many times before by you wonderful ladies but this is a wee reminder of how we can add colour and joy to our homes after a long winter. This fabric was given to me by a Kiwi girlfriend and I loved the colours but wasn't keen on wearing it as it is stretch polyester and really I'm a "natural" fabrics kind of gal!

Teenage boy's cushions

As our boys grow up and out of their "moons and stars" it becomes time to update their bedding, curtains and cushions so here is a collection of cushions I have just made for my boy. All of them I made except for the blue diamonds which is from Ikea.

Spring Cushions

A few weeks ago I was in the mood to add some spring colour and texture to the house so I made a few cushions mostly made from silk scarves that I have collected over the years...here are some I have finished, there are more to come...

Zumba and Savers

Last night a group of my girlfriends (and my daughters) went to our first Zumba class in the Old Hall in Aldgate. It was so much fun and a real hoot. Wasn't sure how I would go tapping into my Zumba styling but it felt really good. The movements are amazing and really liberating....can't wait until it becomes "more natural". I told the gals I was going next week in just my sequence and feathers! Anyways we are all on such a high still that today we are heading down to the depths of Adelaide to Savers to see what treats we can find! I've posted 3 dresses that I found last time. The white one is beautiful and soft and was such a find, the pretty floral pink one is a Vintage Princetown and it is little on the big side up top for me so I added some darts for more shape and the darker floral was actually a night gown. I always look in the nitie section first. It's great tip! Don't be scared off thinking you can only wear it for nights at home. If you pick the right ones which are the right fabric you can often revamp them. This one had buttons down the front which I simply turn inside out and sewed a straight line a good inch in,......oh, after I removed the buttons. Now it looks just like a dress and is really flattering. This one looks great with long black socks underneath and black clogs!

CFS Op-Shop

Since moving into the Adelaide Hills I have been discovering all of the fabulous op-shops and my favourite is the one closest to home. Here is what I found today. I bought the Mikasa coffee cups for my hubby and the labelling underneath is just divine...just check out the colour info. All 3 have the colours written on the bottom, like snow white, powder blue and bronze green. I must be a bit strange but I get all warm and fuzzy when I see details like this. I almost literally fell over when I saw my little bird, almost couldn't contain myself in the store, it's for coins and the basket will come in so handy. Perhaps they all belonged to the same person!?

Monday

Today is the first day in quite some time that I have a WHOLE day to myself.... (school day that is) so I'm going to make a top for summer that I have been wanting to do for quite some time, years actually. You see we have been living the past 3 years in a Ski Resort Town, Wanaka, New Zealand and our summers were very mild and I never really got to wear even a T-Shirt so now that I am back home in The Lucky Country I'm so looking forward to wearing very little! The pattern is one that my beloved daughter found a few weeks ago op-shopping so I thought I would use a linen table cloth that I have had saved and create this today....so here goes...shall show you the finished product soon.....may be a little trial and error being a vintage pattern and all! x

Revamped Dress

Spring has sprung and as I'm always inspired by life but the warmth makes me even more so....so I've revamped a few of my favourite pieces of clothing. I have had this dress for about 12 years, I think I bought it at the Camberwell Markets and it was looking a little "tired" so I have just added a lovely embroided flower and a velvet strip for contrast.
